Since a young age, I've enjoyed observing people and wondering 'why'. Why is a line moving faster; why are there more red cars; why are parents useless at computers? I sometimes picked out which sweets to buy in a shop based on which shelf looked most empty, a possible indication of popularity, I assumed, (a method I still use today if I can't decide which bottle of wine to buy!). People left clues to their behaviour absolutely everywhere, if you looked hard enough you could see them. This was especially true with software and technology.
These days I still observe people but they usually sign a consent form first. Over the last decade I have worked with dozens of organisations applying my passion to understanding their users. This usually leads me to suggest innovative ways these organisations can improve their User Experience (UX) and, of course, bottom line!
Each new job always intrigues me, I genuinely look forward to the opportunity to discover a new group of people, behaving in a new way, using a new piece of technology, website or app. Again I have to understand 'why'. Once I do, it then becomes a simple task to help the client reduce costs, improve revenues and make their customers happier.
