This was the first center spread informational graphic that I produced for The Hill newspaper. I started researching and designing this project during some down time, thinking we could use pieces of it to supplement articles on the opening of the Capitol Visitors Center. I pitched the idea to my editor, who instead cleared space in The Hill's Special Focus section on the center to run it intact.
After the positive reaction to the "Capitol Gains" informational graphic, my editor at The Hill asked me to create a similar center spread graphic on the history of presidential inaugurations. This spread ran in The Hill's coverage of Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
