2nd year University of Derby Student, studying Ba (Hons) Product Design. Over the past few years I have developed a vital skill set, including the ability to look at a problem and come up with a viable solution. Developing this concept to better suit the customer's needs. Drawing in both 2D and 3D, as well as becoming familiar with a variety of design software. I have developed more transferable skill sets alongside these more specific abilities. Including the application of number, linguistic qualities and computer skills. I have attended multiple training sessions and am capable of putting together a professional portfolio tailored to the employers needs.

    Software skills include

    Solid works

    • I have used Solid works for 5 years and have an understanding on how to achieve a desired outcome with the tools available

    Photoshop

    • I have used Photoshop for the past 2 years, and have recently advanced my skill level, being able to produce high quality professional presentation boards

    Showcase

    • I have used showcase for a year, and have a basic understanding of the processes and tools available within the software.

    Office products

    • Due to having completed an extensive It course, I have a vast understanding of all of the office products available, such as word, publisher, excel, etc.

    Pro-Desktop

    • I developed an understanding of pro-desktop within my sixth form and have not used it since. However I do still retain the processes and abilities of the software. And find it easy to draw out a 3D shape from a 2D perspective.

Whilst completing my degree I also represent the BA product design students for my year in staff meetings. Which acts as a platform for student to directly liaise with key members within the university and bring problems to their attention. I feel it is important for class members to have someone to associate with and bring their problems to, as many individuals do have a problem with bringing issues up with lectures.

      Sep 2011 - Mar 2013 (1 year 6 months)
Liverpool Whilst completing my A-Levels I took up a staff role within my sixth form college, teaching product Design to two separate classes, a year 9 group and a year 7 nurture group. Whilst holding this position I had to take classes, put together module content, mark work, and guide the students on how to use the machines and aid their inspiration for their projects. Health and Safety was one of the key elements that was required for me to teach. Being responsible for 14-20 young children for 2 hour- 3 hour periods.
    • Assistant, Airbus
      A380 Broughton Site
      Broughton, United Kingdom
      2011 - 2011
During work experience, I completed a 1 week placement at the Airbus A380 Broughton Site. Whilst here I got to spend time with departments including design, Stress and Quality Control. My job roles included handling concessions, attending meetings where problems where discussed in an attempt to develop a solution, as well as some basic level data inputting on a PC. This enabled me to develop an understanding of how the departments worked together, and gave me an insight into the processes and steps required to amend a mistake in a product. As well as spending time on the factory floor to develop an understanding of how the factory layout aids the production of the product. As well as seeing the vast scale and number of processes involved in the production of A380 wings.
