Tasked with enhancing an established Creative Arts department, I led the strategic integration of BTEC Engineering into the curriculum, positioning it as a bridge between academic learning and real-world application. My role involved implementing a structured, faculty-wide approach that ensured vertical and horizontal alignment across all year levels, including collaboration with Primary to support early skill development and creative progression.

I led a comprehensive curriculum review across Design and Technology, Art, and Food Technology to create a unified and forward-thinking framework that emphasized sustainability, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning. This included embedding key STREAM principles, modern manufacturing methods, and industry-aligned content such as CAD/CAM, embedded intelligence, and iterative design processes.

To extend the impact of the faculty beyond the classroom, I established meaningful partnerships with local and international organizations, enabling access to external expertise, sponsorships, and real-world learning opportunities. These collaborations supported both curriculum enrichment and professional development, while also providing students with insight into pathways within the design, engineering, and creative sectors.

Throughout, I maintained a strong focus on student engagement, ensuring that practical learning was balanced with conceptual rigor and that co-curricular initiatives like the Greenpower Electric Vehicle Challenge and First LEGO League were integrated into the broader vision of the department’s growth.

Appointed to establish a new Design and Technology department spanning Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5, with a focus on Resistant Materials and Graphics. I developed and delivered bespoke curricula for KS2 and KS3 and taught GCSE and AS-Level Design and Technology. I was responsible for designing teaching resources and building strategic supplier relationships across Oman and the UAE. I introduced BTC (Beyond the Curriculum) sessions aimed at strengthening workshop capabilities, including laser cutting. A particular highlight was leading the school’s inaugural First LEGO League team to the National Finals within our first year of entry.

Tasked with developing a Design and Technology department from the ground up, I created and implemented curricula across KS2 to KS4, covering Resistant Materials, Graphics, Electronics, CAD/CAM, Textiles, and Food Technology. I played a key role in integrating STREAM into the wider curriculum and provided cross-departmental support through projects and exhibitions. In addition to academic teaching, I contributed to the performing arts by building props and staging for productions and led the annual Art and DT exhibition. As form tutor for Years 7 and 8, I provided academic and pastoral guidance.

Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC systems. Key duties included diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, conducting routine inspections, replacing or repairing components, and ensuring systems operated efficiently and safely. Skilled in reading technical diagrams, handling refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations, and delivering high-quality customer service in fast-paced environments.

As founding Head of Department, I was responsible for designing and implementing DT provision for KS3 with a strategic plan for KS4 expansion. This included short, medium-, and long-term curriculum planning, integrating health and safety procedures, and managing departmental budgeting and procurement. I also introduced a robust progress tracking system and assessment model tailored to student needs.

Taught a broad KS3 curriculum including Resistant Materials, Graphics, Electronics, CAD/CAM, and Textiles. Developed engaging coursework, homework, and enrichment activities. Led graphics for school events and charity initiatives, and supported whole-school behaviour and wellbeing practices.

Help with the running of classes throughout the day, create new and exciting design projects for students to be used in course works and model examples of products that the students should aim to achieve.
