Alan Ho

I joined Autodesk in 2007 as a Product Designer whereby I'm involved in the design of Vault, Productstream and Productstream Professional products.

Subsequently in May 2011, the Product Designer title was rolled up and renamed to User Experience (UX) Designer as part of a global alignment to ensure consistent expectations across geographical locations.

As a Senior UX Designer within the Manufacturing (MFG) division at Autodesk, I play an integral part in the development of critical features and tools for the Autodesk Vault family of products.

My work primarily involves:
• Requirements elicitation and analysis through research and interviews
• Goals definition through sprint planning and design briefs
• Prototyping ranging from wireframes to interactive mockups
• Protocasting and presentation to communicate the intent of design ideas
• Creation of user experience documentation and specifications
• Creation of production user interfaces and behaviors
• Setting up and conducting usability testing

Part of a distributed research and development (R&D) team, I am responsible for the mechanical design of the 4090µ+ 200mm wafer probing systems.

My responsibilities includes:
• Design and development of new system variants,
• Resolution of field mechanical related issues and design engineering changes,
• Calculation of tolerance stacks, clearance and interference fits,
• Defining geometrical dimensioning requirements,
• Analysis of structural, thermal and kinematic scenarios using finite element analysis (FEA),
• Preparation and conducting Highly-Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) on developed designs,
• Administration of the PDMWorks Product Data Management (PDM) System.

As the lead mechanical engineer in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, my responsibilities include:

• Development of aerospace, semiconductor and ultra-high vacuum components using Pro/ENGINEER; mainly bellows, seals and valves,
• Preparation of drawings using techniques in accordance to ANSI, AWS and ASME standards,
• Design checks which include material selection and stress amplitudes against service life and operating variables,
• Creation and maintenance of item master records and BOM data in MRP system.
• Collect, research and analyze empirical fatigue data for validation of designs.
• Project costing and management.

As a product engineer within the Domestic Appliance and Personal Care (DAP) division, I am involved primarily involved in the design and development of Philips range of hair care products. Responsibility includes:

• Driving the hair care products design and development.
• Raise and review engineering changes through modification /update of designs.
• Approval of first article samples and make prompt decision in production process.
• Conduct engineering trial runs and pilot production for new development projects.
• Conduct cost reduction and innovation projects.
• Coordinate logistic supplies and equipment to ensure production stability during NPI phrase.
• Raise corrective actions to solve manufacturing problems.
• Involvement in ongoing improvement teams to improve working environment and consumer call-rate issues.

Part of a team of composite crewchiefs, my responsibilities include:

• Inspection of the A4SU Super Skyhawk's General Electric F404 turbofan engine
• Perform before, turnaround, after flight servicing
• Deploy and receive aircraft from flight and maintenance schedules
• Member of salvage crew team for the F16 C/Ds Fighting Falcons
• Training specialist to coordinate training and certification programs
