Ami Patel is a writer, editor, and future filmmaker. Upon earning her Bachelor's Degree in Media Production, she began working for KTRK-TV, a local news station owned by The Walt Disney Company, as a production assistant. She feels honored to be working with an award- winning morning newscast.
She previously wrote for Lights Camera Action, an online South Asian lifestyle magazine which covers fashion, dining, art, culture, and high society. She covered one of the Houston Rockets game and the Indian cultural festival known as Holi. In the past, Ami has interned with CW 39, Patricia Gras Productions, and Radio Naya Andaz.
During her undergraduate career, Ami held several positions in organizations at the University of Houston. She was the Media Chair for Indian Students Association, Co-Publicist for Hindu Students Association, and Fundraising Chair for the Association for Women in Communications. She has also worked as a Teaching Assistant for a freshman course on campus. She has been rewarded for her excellent grades by being on the Dean's List every semester and receiving School of Communication scholarships. Ami is fluent in Spanish, Hindi, and Gujarati.
Staying true to her roots, she completed eight years of Indian classical dance (Bharatnatyam) with the Abhinaya School of Performing Arts. She performed at several cultural festivals in Houston. Ami plans to complete her MBA in the nearby future and move to the Big Apple.
