David Orr

I am responsible for a wide variety of print and digital projects for internal clients across the University IT Services organization, from publication and packaging design to event marketing campaigns. I collaborate with project managers, the multimedia team, and writers to craft messages for experts and laypeople, and for faculty, staff, and students. I have focused on improving accessibility practices, especially as Covid-19 required us to shift to more digital publications. The position requires me to get up to speed on technical subject matter related to high-powered computing and computer networks

I’ve worked extensively in the PR industry and with non-profit and small business clients, with strong focus on branding, illustration, and design for social media, content marketing, and email marketing. Clients include Healthcare.gov, USPS, Honeywell, USAID, USO, Northwestern University, Powell Tate Weber Shandwick, and Anne Lewis Strategies, LLC.

Focusing on Adobe Creative Suite and foundational design skills, I helped undergraduates majoring in Fashion Design and Apparel Merchandising build their digital skillsets and get smarter about how they work.

Diverse design experience across promotions, exhibition, and publication projects. Major projects included visual design for an overhaul of the museum's website, production and redesign of monthly calendar and newsletter, and exhibition catalogs.
