O Auto da Compadecida

This work was developed with Camila Tavares during our graduation in Graphic Design at UDESC. Our challenge was to make a poster and a opening credits video for a movie of our preference.
We chose the Brazilian movie "O Auto da Compadecida" (A Dog's Will), a Guel Arraes production based on Ariano Suassuna's mastepiece. The history is about João Grilo and Chicó, two poor guys living in the backlands of Northeast Brazil. They cheat a bunch of people in a small town, but when they die, they have to be judged by Christ, the Devil and the Virgin Mary before being admitted to paradise.
The aesthetic inspiration comes from Cordel literature: very popular in Northeast Brazil, they are inexpensively printed booklets containing folk novels, poems and songs.
