For as long as I can remember art has always been my biggest passion. To some that may be too broad to say “art” while not specifying painting, drawing, sculpture, or any particular style. However for me, I love to work in all mediums and combine them together whenever I can.

When creating pieces, I strive to make a subject matter which forces the audience to think beyond the surface. The ultimate goal is to create a story, which flows seamlessly from what occurs in the piece to an end open for interpretation. Most of my work has a theme that relates to people interacting with animals and nature. Some of these pieces have a whimsical feeling while others show the relationship between the figure’s emotions and an animal that matches it.

In my graphic works I have to start by thinking what is the purpose of this design? What will it represent and what audience they are trying to appeal too. So many things go through my head and I begin to sketch out every single idea that comes to mind. Some of these sketches are similar with slight variations or completely on the other side of the spectrum. Unlike my paintings and drawings I sometimes have to simplify the design to get across the personality of the client and their intentions. Some times it is necessary to keep my personal style out of the design, while using the knowledge I have gained. By combining the knowledge and skills from my illustrative background and my traditional studies and applying them into my graphic work, I will create a piece that is not stale while leaving an impression on the viewer.

Design and layout several publications ranging from newspapers, tourism guides, tax forms, brochures, promotional materials, military publications such as the Joint Base Journal, Andrews Gazette, and Tester. Each product had its own guideline to follow and requirements to keep our loyal customers but also attract a younger demographic. Every day was tasked with three to four different newspapers that had to be designed, each with a strict deadline. Once the publication was approved, preflighted each page and sent them off to the press for printing. On some occasions, work in pre-press sending and catching plates.
