I got too excited to draw a portrait of my mum that I forgot to take pictures of the first steps. I was happy to see that the resemblance was on point. I was scared to make mistakes with the print on her blouse, so I was very careful.

Close up of the portrait with the colours that I had mixed to replicate the original print colour palette.

The portrait is coming out nicely, so proud that I was able to capture my mum's facial expresion, specially her smile and the sparkle in her eyes.

In this close up it is clear the abstract pattern work on the blouse and also the yellow and earthy tones to define her skin complexion.

I was adding more shadows to specific strands of hair to add depth and texture.

Almost done here, just a few touches here and there before adding the background colour splash to create contrast.

Final step done, you can tell that I wanted some sort of brightness to radiate from her face, a bit of sunkissed visage.
