Before and after screen captures of Skipping Stone's Instagram feed. Templates where updated for various post types to make key information easier to scan for, and to differentiate post types (programming, service spot light, quotes and affirmations, and educational materials).
Skipping Stone runs a lot of programs, and weekly updates are necessary and demanded by the community. This template makes it clear which day an event is occurring and if it is being held in person or online. Skipping Stone's logo was also added to the template, and the background image changed monthly. These images were paired with individual event images in carousels.
Daily highlight posts were added by Case, as some days include multiple events. These images include easy to notice times and locations. Background images change monthly. These overall images were paired with the individual event images on Instagram since carousels perform better than individual images.
In this update of programming posts the location is made more clear. These updated designed received instant positive feedback from other organizations to Skipping Stone management.
Monthly highlight carousels were also added, as needed, to give our audience advanced notice. Our monthly programming highlights focused on events that would require advanced registration. Meet-up group highlights were added in January to let folks know what's coming up in the new year. Online meet-up were posted after an event outside of Calgary, so that those located elsewhere in Alberta could see what programs are easily accessible to them.
On top of regular programming, Skipping Stone offers many different services and resources to trans folks in Alberta. These needed to stand out from programming posts.
In a time where it is hard to exist as Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary, or gender diverse, positivity is necessary. At a frequency of once a week Case would choose a quote and create one of these images using background templates from watercolours he painted by hand and scanned in (from 3 paintings). Watercolour was choosen as the medium, since skipping stones skip on water, and watercolours can have a light positive feel. Over the winter holiday break, Case also hand drew two positive affirmations - one of them being "You Are Loved", as shown here.
Mostly working with the watercolour inspiration from earlier, important days to the 2SLGTBQIA+ community are also honoured.
Other types of posts were also required, from fundraising, to non-typical events, and hiring posts.
