Chetan Shastri

I have great interest and varying degrees of expertise in all aspects of museum design and I have consciously groomed my skill set to design for the cultural sector. After graduating (2006) from the National Institute of Design as an Exhibition and Space designer, I completed my MA in Visual communication from IIT-Bombay in 2009.

I was working in India for the past 5 years on various projects relating to signage, graphic, publication and retail design. Almost all my work is in public spaces and includes some large and prestigious projects such as designing for the India Pavilion for the Cannes Film Festival 2013 (NFDC) and Signage system for the Bangalore Metro (Tata Elxsi). I have also worked on the design and planning proposals for two museums in India.

I came to London in September 2015, to pursue my second Master's -- a two-year MA in History of Design at the Royal College of Art and the Victoria & Albert Museum. I have been awarded the New Bonita trust scholarship towards my studies at RCA.

I have joined this MA course at V&A/RCA so that I have better understanding of history, curatorial practices and be able to build narratives around objects.

I am happiest when I am working in cultural contexts or designing for interpretative or exhibition environments. I feel fulfilled to do such work and feel that I am privileged to be able to contribute to this domain of knowledge and design.
