Giant Eagle is a supermarket chain with stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana and Maryland. They were building a mobile app for the main brand, and as that project moved to development, were looking to add their Gift Card brand into the app experience.
The project had been in the design phase for a few months when I was brought in to lead the 2-person design team. We pivoted from an individual screen-design approach to an Atomic design system approach. I was responsible for taking the individual screen designs and UI styles and creating a scalable template and component framework. I established formalized the styles, design rules and interaction patterns into a design library. With these assets, I created and managed the Design System documentation and managed the design strategy for the new Gift Card feature rollout.
