Ecuador is divided in provinces located in four geographically distinct regions: the Coast, the Andes, the Amazon, and the Galapagos Islands. For every province, one species of local fauna was selected as a symbol. For every region, one color was determined based on its percieved temperature and usual weather global conditions. Each symbol was illustrated by hand using the graphic typology and morphology of the decorative graphics of ceramic vases from the Napo culture (an indigenous ecuadorian cultural heritage). Every illustration was then digitized and applied to the branding system.

Graphic design for packing for Cabra Negra Café products

Cabra Negra is a Brand of coffee products in Ecuador. One of their objectives as a brand is to support local coffee farmers through fare trade practices. One of their most important values is the recognition of their coffee as locally produced. I designed a system of decorative and brand support graphics to be used in a variety of applications such as packaging, interior decoration, merchandizing, digital communications, etc. For this project I applied this graphic system to their 340g coffee pouch. The concept was developed through the analysis and research of traditional indigenous graphic decorations of ceramic vases from the indigenous traditional culture of Napo in Ecuador.
