I live the style lines too - there is a a kind of soft 'angularity' that I find very modern... great work Mike.

insane render Mike!!
Mike,,,insane page!
one of the first downloads which went into my reference!
A sweet proposal Mike!!Insane!
You are one pro at detailing!!
Insane design!!awesome forms...very aggressive in nature!
Awesome Shoes! Loved the sole...
I feel the outsole/midsole was the most successful part of the shoe. This was one of my last Jordan projects and it was great to leave on a high note! It was a challenge to integrate to classic, very unique designs into one shoe.
This guy never went to production obviously, but I still love this sketch. This was the first project I worked on at Jordan.
Thanks guys. These were big seller, about 300k. I couldn't afford J's as a kid, so I would often draw them... I looked at these projects the same way, would they inspire a 14 yr old kid to draw shoes? Aesthetically, I wanted these to be a bit more approachable, a bit less spaceship like. From a performance standpoint, these are one of the highest scoring shoes from the Nike Sports Research Lab, max air heel, zoom air forefoot, great flex grooves, and bootie construction....
Thanks I like the upper left sketch series. I love exploring details like that.
I love this sneaker. Nice color combo.
great!!
must be in my jordan shoes collections, really cool...
beautiful!
awesome!
Finesse !! though I hate putting my bag on the floor.
WOW a Jordan boot?? Coooool!
very nice...cool...
Thanks. This proposal didn't make it past a few prototypes, but I always loved it. This sketch is from early 2006. Super fun drawing, I think I rendered it in about 20 minutes.
Thanks. I loved this shoe. Training shoe meets Basketball shoe. It was light and pretty iconic. I still see some dudes rocking them. It came out in 2006.
Hey Mike. What do use to generate the patterns? You must have a series of brushes or just texture layers? I love these shoe renders. Me gonna have to lay some outs man!!
Joe, do you mean the textures? The triangle is just a repeat pattern in the heal I made in illustrator, as is the perf pattern on the toe. The lining is a scan of a material that I applied with the texturizer tool in Photoshop. The collar lines are just an illustrator pattern that I applied using texturizer in photoshop.
You're clearly a master of PS rendering. I know this might be one of your trade secrets, but how on earth did you get a leathery texture on that render? I've been playing about for a while attempting it in PS.
I scanned a bunch of leathers. Once you have some good clean scans you can use the "texturizer" tool in PS.
Beautiful!!! Can I have those? :)
Thank you. They were on the market in 2006 I think...
Yeah , not in the middle east I guess, i think I remember I saw them on some website. Is this a 2 layers of EVA at midsole?
Your work is really inspiring.
Thanks everyone!
very clean and so well thought out
gr8 design...
cool...
Thanks fellas, this was done back in 2005.... hard to believe it was only 5 years ago.
thanks all.
Ooooh,,,nice Mike!
amazing work!liking the play of layers at the counter!
great job impeccable
Thanks, this was a late development concept sketch right before techpack. I ended up transferring to Converse to lead the Portland based studio on the Nike Campus, so the final design was overseen by another designer, and it evolved far away from this sketch, which I still love.
Really nice, heel and tooling make it shine!
Nice sketches..Mike
Thanks all.
i love this shoe. i played ball in it for about a year, normally i don't buy jordans, too expensive and i destroy my shoes on the asphalt, but i had access to the nike company store, half off, love the clean lines
Thanks everyone.
I had those in my store and they sold well Michael, pretty comfy as well
cooll !!
