Dan Dechiara

My name is Dan Dechiara, I am and Industrial Designer and a recent graduate of a fledgling industrial design program at James Madison University. My roots in art & design started when I was a freshman in high school and I started doing graffiti. At the time I considered myself a writer and never thought of myself as an artist, and as the years past I became more and more invested in drawing and thats where it all started. Fast forward to my sophomore year in college when I finally decided on a major. I choose industrial design, just being able to create a form or object to make a living seemed AMAZING, but also to be doing something that has the potential to create social change was important to me.

A lot of my inspiration comes from bauhaus and for the first year in my program I was primarily designing and building minimalist furniture. As time went by graphic design started to peak my interest, mainly web design, personal branding, CAD, and Rendering. After about a year of doing research heavy work I started to shift back to focusing on raw skills such as sketching and model making because it was something that I had always loved and felt was missing during the time I spent in front of a screen.
