Versatile Agricultural Seed Metering System
A concept for a British manufacturer of agricultural seed drills, I was challenged to develop a flexible and accurate seed metering unit to replace the existing system.
As an SME in a market dominated by several international brands, I decided to focus my efforts on making the metering system more versatile, allowing the same core system to be implemented on all seed drills, with additional “piggy-back” modules to cater for larger machines. This system would involve fewer components and lower production and tooling costs.
A range of roller inserts would allow the same core unit to accurately meter a range of seed sizes and types, adding additional versatility to the unit.
