Dan Smith

In my role as a designer, I have experience with a wide range of projects, specialising in the design of statement-piece sculpture, chandelier and bespoke luminaires.

Working closely with the director's, I am involved in all aspects of the design process; from initial project discussions, concept generation and the design engineering and production stages- through to on-site installation of large-scale bespoke pieces.

Using Rhino as the primary design package, I produce 3D models of new sculptures and components, engineering the structure of each piece and tailoring each design to the client’s requirements before producing 2D drawings for contractors and suppliers.

Utilising diverse materials ranging from stainless steel to bone china, recent projects have been installed in shopping malls, restaurants, cruise ships, hotels and private residences- commissioned by clients from around the globe.

I also manage the design stage of each project- sourcing and ordering components, outsourcing laser or water-jet processes and liaising directly with clients, architects, engineers and contractors throughout the duration of each project.

Helping to raise the profile of the organisation via social networks and the media.
Also, developing the curriculum as part of a team, to be taught to SF high school students from the Fall 2010 semester onwards.
