  • Experience
    • Owner/Creative Director
      Vision Design Group, LLC
      Feb 2005 - Present (20 years 11 months)
As company founder, I oversee virtually every project from beginning to end, whether as a consultant or with a team of talent selected for their expertise in a specific market or project type. I manage every aspect of the business—creative, sales, accounts, and operations. I founded Vision Design Group to fulfill a need in the marketplace among organizations with internal marketing teams but without a brand or creative strategy function. Solutions include brand strategy and development, strategic communications, corporate identity systems, user experience and interface, and web site design and strategy. Some of my clients include Abiomed, Berklee College of Music, Boston Public Library, Demandware, Harvard Business Review, John Hancock Insurance, PerkinElmer, Plymouth Rock Assurance, and SAP.
    • Creative Director
      Racepoint Global
      Boston, MA
      May 2016 - Feb 2017 (9 months)
I drove the creative vision for this global agency and led the creative development of cross-channel marketing strategies and campaigns for both B2B and B2C clients. From initial brainstorming sessions to delivery, I managed a large creative team of art directors and designers, copywriters, photographers, videographers, and producers in the home office in Boston as well as teams in London and Hong Kong. I managed budgets and oversaw department productivity and implemented new creative department processes to increase efficiency and elevate the creative product. I was also a key member of the new business development team, leading the creative vision for new business pitches. Solutions included branding strategy and tactics, social media and mobile activations, videos, interactive experiences, website design, and cross-platform advertising. Some of the client work I oversaw included: Glidden Paint, Huawei, IBM, John Deere, Kaiser Permanente, Nanthealth, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Project Management Institute.

      Notable accomplishments:
Developed brand essence video for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I conceived, storyboarded, and oversaw script development, shooting and final editing. I also pitched concepts and presented iterations to team ownership. The video was then presented to all employees of the organization.
    • Senior Director of Creative Services
      Southern New Hampshire University
      Manchester, NH
      Aug 2014 - May 2016 (1 year 9 months)
I shaped the comprehensive creative strategy for University College, the 3,000-student, on-campus division of SNHU. During this time, I led and executed a complete rework of University College’s visual identity and messaging platform, which consisted of a wide scope of initiatives including viewbook and recruitment materials, emails, traditional and online advertising, college fair presence, direct mail, campus displays and signage, online campus tour, commencement books, videos, and the building of an all-new photo library, to name just a few. I worked closely with university leadership as well as with Undergraduate, Transfer, and International Admission to ensure the experience, brand voice, and tone were unique to University College but in line with the established SNHU brand as a whole.
    • Partner/Chief Creative Officer
      story+structure
      Boston, MA
      Feb 2012 - Feb 2014 (2 years)
As one of three partners in this user-centered design consultancy, I served as creative lead on all client and internal marketing projects; led the planning and execution of the company’s marketing strategies; led product development for our flagship product; set company goals for partners; led account management, project management, and design teams; developed and managed budgets and goals; expanded new business opportunities; and formulated strategy for and made investor pitches.

Client solutions included strategic communications, user experience design, graphic design, and app
development – including Caramel, a mobile recruitment and sales app. When I joined Story+Structure, the firm was a three-person startup with ambitions to grow. I brought an agency mentality and energy to the company and, as a result, the company has become a desirable place to work that continues to attract top talent. Clients included Artaic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Brandeis University, California State University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Fenway Health, Office of Head Start, and UMass Boston.
    • Art Director
      Benes Brand Imaging
      Lexington, MA
      Jan 2000 - Feb 2005 (5 years 1 month)
Led a team of designers, writers, and developers while supervising project workflow from concept to delivery. Created digital and printed brand communication materials for clients in a wide array of markets including financial services, biopharma, life sciences, manufacturing, technology, retail, as well as higher education and not-for-profit. Accounts I had creative leadership roles on included Analog Devices, Fidelity Investments, Friendly’s, Lesley University, New Balance, Northeastern University, PerkinElmer, Polaroid, Textron, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
    • Assistant Director of Communications
      Berklee College of Music
      Boston, MA
      Nov 1991 - Jan 2000 (8 years 2 months)
While a member of Berklee’s Office of Communications, first as art director, then as assistant director of communications, I was instrumental in transforming what was essentially a three-person service office into a eight-person marketing and communications team. During this time, I led the development and implementation of a visual identity system for virtually all printed and digital marketing and recruitment material, establishing a singular, unified brand identity for the first time in Berklee’s history.
