SPAGO

SPAGO is a solid glass cutting board. Glass is a quality choice for food because of its sleek, hygienic surface, easy to clean avoiding smells. But glass is difficult to handle, fragile, even when tempered, thus still underemployed. SPAGO wants to solve this issue by combining a solid, tempered glass board, with a strong rope, distancing the glass from the kitchen plane and providing a safe holding knot, maximizing functionality.
A 10 mm glass plate is cut with miter edge finish into a rounded polygonal shape. Eight circular holes are water-cut along the edge and the central region is treated in order to obtain a compact frosted finish. The line around the cutting area is engraved, to stop dripping liquids. The whole piece is tempered, preventing breakage. A rope goes through the holes, with a final knot at the side you choose to hang it from. The unusual combination of glass and rope provides a rugged yet sophisticated look, with extreme usage flexibility.
