PROJECT: Silicone Phone Grip – Industrial Designer Needed
I am looking for an experienced industrial designer to help refine and redesign an existing phone grip concept for manufacturing.
Over the past several months I have developed multiple physical prototypes and digital iterations of a silicone phone grip product. I currently have STL files, renders, and a clear product direction.
At this stage, I am not looking for a simple STL-to-STEP conversion. I am looking for an industrial designer who can help evolve the concept into a professional, production-ready product.
The product is a low-profile silicone phone grip that attaches to the back of a phone using suction cups. The primary design feature is a single intentional middle-finger interaction. The goal is to create a grip that feels ergonomic, sculptural, minimal, and premium.
Design references include brands such as Rhode, Acne Studios, Apple, and Teenage Engineering.
Scope of work:
Review existing concept, prototypes, and STL files
Refine ergonomics and user interaction
Improve overall form language and product aesthetics
Redesign the product for manufacturability
Create production-ready CAD files (STEP format)
Advise on silicone molding and manufacturing considerations
Collaborate through multiple design iterations
Preferred experience:
Consumer products
Industrial design
Silicone or soft-touch products
Injection molding or molded products
SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, or equivalent
Design for manufacturing (DFM)
Budget:
$5,000–$10,000
Please include examples of consumer products you have taken from concept through manufacturing.
