Industrial and graphic designers designed and developed a urban furniture, due to hard weather condition in winter time, furniture was developed as concrete cast, assembled at the local. Shapes and colors were inspired by mexican prehispanic culture. The 16th street at Pilsen had different urban character from Industrial houseware to family environment, demanding differente urban furniture configuration.

Pilsen Bicycle Boulevard project was displayed at the "First International Furniture Design Contest of Mexico City" and awarded with an honorable mention by Mexico City´s Alderman.

Graduation Project 1 - 16th street Pilsen Bicycle Boulevard

Project developed under the Design Exchange Program between UAM (México) and UIC (USA) from 1997 - 1999.
Pilsen Bicycle Path - Urban Furniture - Street Signals developed by industrial designers and Graphic Designers.
The project focused in the transformation of the 16 street into a Bicycle Path.
Team was composed of industrial and graphic design and architecture students.
Project demanded several trips to Chicago from Mexico City to presentation of the project for the Mexican Community, City of Chicago Authorities and UIC design and architects professors.
Project with technical plans delivered to the Mayor of the City of Chicago, however, project was not implemented at all.
Shapes and colors were an inspiration from mexican prehispanic culture since the client was the mexican community in Chicago at the Pilsen neighbourhood.
Project was a winner at the International Furniture Contest in Mexico City in 1999.
