Original local ceramic craft. Ceramic Tehuanas have a long and old tradition in Oaxaca. Skilled ceramists were responsibles, however, they have an artisan - craft approach. The idea as a designer was to approach the tradition and develop a contemporary view of the tradition. Crafters didn´t use plaster models but pottery wheels or built the figures hand-made. My approach was to "modernize" the tradition and make the figures using plaster models.
Another example of local ceramic crafts. Figures found at local markets. Each artisan has a different approach, experience and history; this particularities were reflected at the Tehuanas personalities.
