Target audience: Men and women in college, ages 18-22. They have a lot of snack food options and appreciate things that don’t spoil/go stale quickly. They already know and like Cheetos.
Business goals: The goal is to collect email addresses from this key demographic so the company can send them coupons and promotions and keep the Cheetos brand top-of-mind.
Copywriting strategy: Grab attention and deeper interest with copy that is bold, exciting, fun and cheeky. Use language that appeals to the college student’s emotions about being away from home by encouraging childhood memories involving their favorite snack. Tie that into the deeper benefit of bringing elements of home to college. Also, emphasize that they can have this snack readily available, on any occasion, no matter their budget. Compel them to participate in the contest with prominent CTA button and urgency.
