This illustration is part of my sports storytelling series where I combine illustration, typography, and humor to visualize iconic moments in sports history. The artwork highlights Joe Montana’s legendary comeback in the 1979 Cotton Bowl, often remembered as the “Chicken Soup Game.”
The piece began as a hand-drawn sketch where I developed the character pose, layout, and narrative elements. I then brought the drawing into Adobe Illustrator to build clean vector line work, refine shapes, and design the typography and supporting graphics. After the vector stage, the artwork was finished in Adobe Photoshop, where textures, color depth, and vintage-style effects were added to create a retro sports poster aesthetic.
This project reflects my interest in combining sports history, character illustration, and graphic storytelling. It’s part of my personal creative work outside of my professional projects in apparel graphics, team identity systems, and logo design.
