Hottle Bottle

HottleBottle is a self directed project and my most recent work. I took on the brief of bringing the hot water bottle into the 21st Century. This has been acheived primarily through form. Pre 1950/60, hot water bottles were made from ceramic. This allowed them to stay hot for longer. I used ceramic and covered the bottle with a felt case. The two contrasting textures create a very contemporary design. I created this model to be primarily sold in shops such as John Lewis.

The cover covers the complete product including the hole. The hole in the middle provides room for hands to be put inside similar to an Edwardian muff. This product does have multiple influences from the past ways of warming yourself. A project that relies heavily on form is not something I have been able to do very often so it was interesting to have this oppurtunity.
