As a designer I want to make the world around me more beautiful, ease the suffering of others, and make everyday life more fun and exciting.

From the moment I learned about industrial design, I knew that this career was the perfect fit for me. I am a MAKER through-and-through. I get the most satisfaction when I am faced with a difficult problem, that I can utilize my creativity and technical nerdy-ness to solve. I think best with rapid sketching, visual brainstorms, and building physical models to proof my ideas. I enjoy surrounding myself with other creative and innovative minds to bounce ideas off of. Working in design teams is where I believe truly great ideas are created, and I thrive in those situations. Industrial design gives me the opportunity to continually be challenged, to learn, and to create great things, and that is exactly what I am going to do.

      Aug 2009 - Aug 2013 (4 years)
I started at Starbucks as and entry level barista and as a result of my abilities at multitasking, organization, time-management, quick-thinking and leadership I was promoted to Shift Supervisor and Team Trainer. As Supervisor I ensured all the day's tasks were completed by directing my teams efforts as needed. I was in charge of solving any problems that arise concerning daily operations and customer experiences. As Team Trainer I trained new baristas and re-trained existing baristas on new strategies that were being implemented within the company. I also needed to instill the companies values and vision within baristas to ensure the customer receives the same experience from each barista and that the store's environment is how it is intended to be by corporate.
