PHASE AWAY is a hybrid board game created at the 2015 Global Game Jam. It not only features a board hich is newly geenerated every playthrough, but also a smartphone app, which controls many of the game's aspects.
A closer look at the app. The upper buttons give information about the salvaged loot with the decreasing timer in the middle. The discover-button tells if an adjacent room is filled or devoid of oxygen. The lower buttons are for the aliens, a constant threat for the crew.

PHASE AWAY was made at the 2015 Global Game Jam. It´s a cooperative, real-time, sci-fi boardgame about looting, exploring and avoiding being devoured by alien monsters. What makes Phase Away really stand out though is its use of a smartphone app which controls many aspects of the game.

I co-created the gameplay and setting and designed the board, the class-sheets and many of the items. This project was tons of fun and I´m very proud of it. It was also very well recieved by students and professors alike.
