Advertising widened my arena of perceiving things and I realised that it was the simplest way of communicating to the consumer through graphics and typography to sell a product/service.
Design school did teach me to play with typography and graphics. But advertising taught me their apt usage.
Today after spending over a decade in advertising I realised that it is like us-humans.
For e.g. when a brand is born we give it a name and a whole lot of time and thought is utilised in deciding the name and designing it, which finally becomes it's identity and character. Then the brand has its highs and lows and emotions and competitors, etc like every individual has in his/her life.
This is just the beginning, a long way to go.
