Here is a pawn chess piece that I created on a metal lathe. We used a variety of tools and techniques to create it such as: chamfering, cutting and trimming.
For this task we had to practice using all the drilling equipment in the workshops, using lots of smaller tools to assist the process.
This piece was all about accuracy and precision. To create the acrylic hexagon involved a mix of skills such as trigonometry, sanding and cutting to size.
This task was purely a focus of learning how to plastic fabricate.
Probably the most used technique this year, vacuum forming of plastics over wooden moulds. This method was used in all the design projects I have been a apart of so far.
