Dorel Juvenile Group is one of the largest manufacturers of children's car seats in the world. While working at ram industrial design, we did a number of different projects for Dorel focused on improving the design and usability of car seats.
First and foremost to our process was research, and not only understanding the product itself, but the users who entrust the lives of their children on their purchasing decision. We conducted extensive interviews and onsite visits where we shadowed parents to discover current design issues and potential opportunities. Part of creating a successful design is understanding your users, so we dug into what concerns and values new parents have when shopping for their children, and in what direction these trends are moving.
