This project is a fantasy children’s narrative I created titled “Rosalinda the Garden Fairy.” I found that using a magical fairy character would be a fun twist to a regular nature themed story snd make it more appealing to younger children. Rosalinda’s story depicts the hidden life in nature, and raises the awareness on how precious and important nature is through fun and colorful digital illustrations.
In the process of creating my first few digital pieces, I developed my own unique style, where I combined photographed images of my character, with web images and painted over them digitally to create a digital collage.
The biggest challenge in creating this project was achieving a consistent sense of Rosalinda’s height, which I was able to do by manipulating the background to make her appear smaller. Throughout each piece, I used a consistent color scheme of the contrasting colors red and green to unite the images as a whole.
