Paired with an understanding of storytelling and conceptualization, they will emerge as effective visual communicators, bringing creative problem-solving skills to workplaces around the globe. These abilities are what make Ringling Illustration graduates so attractive to companies in so many fields.
    • Advanced Placement Illustration
High School of Art and Design
      2014 - 2018
The High School of Art and Design is a Career and Technical Education high school in Manhattan, New York City. The Illustration department combines the best of two worlds, incorporating traditional drawing and painting skills with graphic design and computer technology. The course sequence begins in tenth grade with an illustration workshop that focuses on studio skills using traditional tools and materials, while the technology segment concentrates on Adobe Creative Suite’s Photoshop program. The junior year curriculum emphasizes practical commercial assignments, including newspaper editorial illustration, spot drawings, book cover and periodical designs. Drawing and painting from life are essential to picture making; the study of traditional rendering skills is thoroughly integrated with commercial graphic design orientation. Senior year illustration students pursue independent projects, while preparing a final portfolio and digital portfolio for professional review and college admissions.

    • "Reach For the Stars"
      P.S. 236 Mill Basin School
      2009 - 2011
PS 236 is a well-run, well-equipped elementary school teaching grades K-5. The school has an inviting library with big windows that overlook a reburished playground. The school sets high academic standards, and test scores are above the citywide average. Statistics also show that children with special needs perform average or above on state tests. For a few years this well-regarded school seemed to falter under a principal that never fully gained the community's trust and received low marks on school surveys, but under new leadership things seem to have stablized.

During my high school years, I was closely affiliated with the Studio in a School Institute. Studio in a School is an institute that serves young people by integrating the visual arts into teaching and learning and provides professional development for artists and teachers. I was introduced to Studio in a School by my High School Illustration Teacher when he gave out flyers for the Studio TAP program. Most of the success I have today is due to my involvement with Studio. To me, Studio sparked a new understanding of myself and my artwork, helping it improve each session. Studio in a School is special to me because it is the only program I joined that had my artwork noticed and displayed in renowned places such as Christie’s and Lincoln Center. Being a part of the Studio Institute helped me learn many new things and was helpful in my life, especially when it came time to apply for colleges. The Studio institute programs I was enrolled in were the Teen Apprenticeship Program (March 2016 – August 2016), Studio Intensives in Painting & Portfolio Development (Oct. 2016 – Dec. 2016), Figure in Motion with the New York City Ballet (January 2017 – February 2017), Studio Intensives in Painting and Portfolio Development (Oct. 2017 – Dec. 2017), and the Neuberger Berman Commision Project (January 2018 – February 2018). Applying for events with Studio in a School, added more experience to my résumé. With the help of Studio in a School, I was always able to have a variety of artwork in my art collection, making my art portfolio stand out from other applicants. The Studio Institute impacted my life the most, by giving me the opportunity to accomplish my very first dream job of teaching art to children when I was only 16 years old. This experience left me with a desire to continue on the teaching path, and continue to pursue my dreams.
