James Harris

The experience started with a two day research project which then led into me being asked to come back to do a solo project for the Product Development Department. Roles included working alongside colleges to design a set of products ready to be send out to manufacture as well as attending important meetings to learn about how the design department works within Waitrose.

Since leaving Bracknell and returning back to my university to study I have been approached to take part in some external work.

Roles included designing and sharing new ideas for future products. Designing three separate products and then presenting them to the team. Learning about the day to day roles of being a designer in a well known company.

I learn’t a number of skills during my week at Ford. One being how businesses communicate with one another through group calls and meetings. Another being how a global company like Ford runs and keeps to strict deadlines as well as being able to spend some time with the engineers, seeing how they work and what to expect if I were to go into the engineering industry.
