Vibe Boards // • Vibe and trend research of current trends and future design developments that will provide inspiration for upcoming lines. • Themes were created after assessing design movements within the global market place that were relative to the action and lifestyle market and demographics.
Color Research // • Pulling influences from the vibe and trend research that inspired new hues and color combinations for future color directions in products and product lines.
Moto Pant Concept Development // • Generating ideas through sketch work to prove the principle direction for the premium moto line including pant, jersey and glove. • Initial sketches provided inspiration for logos, logo placement and design direction for the entire moto uni.
Street Jacket Product Story // • In the attempt to fill a hole in the market that was not currently covered by the Shift brand, a deep dive was taken into the culture that became the influencing factor for this product. • Inspiration from characters such as Marlon Brando in the movie "The Wild Ones" set the direction for this project. Research set the story line for the concept, design and steered the process though development and marketing, thus carving out new opportunities in the market for the brand.
Moto Uniform Concept Development // • An expansion of different moto uni inspirations created for a moto season that used different vibe influences and factors that were relative to the market, demographic and culture.
Moto Uniform Print Study // • Camo was a proven revenue producing print for the Shift brand, but needed a revamp that would still cater to a wide range of demographics. • After generating multiple camo print directions the top displayed camo was selected to explore various color combinations. • The bottom half of the page shows a deeper exploration of multi layered camo prints using other graphic element including pin-striping, checkerboard and lightening bolt graphic that would still appeal to a larger demographic.
Moto Uniform Inspiration and Development // • Every season the moto line was set with the task of creating a new look and feel for almost every product in the line. • Products had become very print heavy, so it was one of the first design challenges to tackle in the process. • Using a single color allowed for decreased product cost by eliminating rollers and screens which increased profit margins.
Street Jacket Color/Print Research and Analysis // • Design had to appeal to an action oriented female rider that would be making her own purchases decisions. • Internal and external focus groups were conducted to get the perceptions from a woman's standpoint. Not only focusing on street riders, but also women with strong fashion sense. • Prints and colors were evaluated and tested to capture the correct balance between fashion and performance.
Street Jacket Concept Development // • Full leather street jackets were found to be restricting in specific areas. New concepts for a jacket used a balance of leather and textile as a solution. • Generating sketches and developing prototypes aided in the discovery of new low abrasion areas that textile could be used. • Research led to ideas, influencing concepts, prototypes and designs that triggered a new opportunity for Shift in the street market, thus increasing sales, market share and allowed for new design opportunities.
