Branching from one girl’s graphics, this is an independently owned boutique brand advocating
for home decor for your mental health. |{life, styled with intention™}. www.spruceandadorn.com
“practicing how to organize the things we love to collect in life, in turn, being mindful to collect things that function for us”
Serving as a living portfolio piece, we’ve been scaling a specialized sustainable home decor consulting model to an access for all brick-n-mortar, encouraging community gatherings, live music and launching social impact fundraising. Navigating creative entrepreneurship with curve balls the year we established our first location in the season of a global pandemic, outgrew and changed locations, advocated through unannounced infrastructure construction and the building sale of our last location. Blessed with core creative skills over this period we have been expanding our signature product development lines. ‘goods for goods’ collections have included but are not limited to spruce & adorn™,
Kiya Tomlin, Sandra Cadavid, Idia Dega + Atasa Solar, Navajo Water Project, World Central Kitchen, Rookwood Pottery…
We’ve been scaling from an initial order of candles and grown by 790% since 2018. Visit Recognitions*

Warwick Dentistry
Pittsburgh, PA
Jan 2018 - Dec 2019 (1 year 11 months)
Upgrading the independently owned dental office of Joyce & Jack Warwick of Warwick Dentistry, their visual communications, branded voice and marketing assets.
Acting as creative & art director I first appraised the environment, office technology and techniques that set their office located in the downtown Pittsburgh’s Mellon Building apart from others in their industry. Embodying their philosophies that ‘dental technology has evolved tremendously and they maintain active in advancing leading-edge technology so our patients can always benefit from the most modern dental care available.’
My strategic planning process included rendering layouts including color schematics, implementing additional desirable fonts, updating the logo, fostering a written voice for their content, mirroring the comfort and compassion of the office, to translate in print and digital medias. Overseeing camera-ready styling, and storyboarding, my environmental design expertise was focused on de-escalating fear/anxiety of the dentist chair from the moment the office was spotted through the front-glass facade. In return, allowing the technology to provide the next level of sedation-free care.

Hotel Indigo® Pittsburgh East Liberty
Pittsburgh, PA
May 2014 - Dec 2018 (4 years 7 months)
Initial creative director for Pittsburgh's first of it’s kind launched by Governor's Hotel Company and managed
by InterContinental Hotels Group boutique series, sister to the Kimpton Brand.
As graphic designer the process included logo customization & brand development, environmental signage, copy writing & environmental designs, strategic branding & marketing, sales card & kits, marketing tools, print and digital advertisements, movie screen advertisement, digital email signature slides, live music branding & engagement, website mirroring the environment, social media channels, jointly event promotions with the restaurant, seasonal and holiday menus, local experience itineraries plugging independent businesses.
As environmental designer taking into account resources around the building including unused banner poles, how lighting fixtures on the building and windows would incorporate in the large windows seized for billboard opportunities for educational resources about the hotel, it’s philosophy and commitment to the historic neighborhood.
As as marketing consultant capturing the opportunity to foster really creative analogue ways to go organically viral on the streets of Pittsburgh. My philosophy… if you cannot get the locals onboard by naturally recommending your business you are missing the bigger picture.
By launching Live! Music I was able to resuscitate the energy of the neighborhoods historic entertainment legacy > by enrolling local musicians we were able to create a new safe space to honor the art of locals > by sponsoring live music events in downtown Pittsburgh we were able to expand our audience > by sponsoring neighborhood adverts we were able to include micro-owned businesses to enlist in a local directory for travelers, those employed in the neighborhood and residents of the region > by creating concert like tickets w/lunch promos we were able to enroll the theatre theme to introduce locals to the restaurant and its new chef.

freelance environmental design, graphic design, merchandising & brand management
Pittsburgh, PA
May 2014 - Dec 2018 (4 years 7 months)
Transforming an off the beat and path by appointment artist studio in Pittsburgh’s developing East Liberty borough as environmental designer identifying the potential to the space, in combination with the clients vision, for minimum effort to immediately transform the space on a friendly budget. The space served as a family friendly retail environment defined by the clients multiple roles as mom, wife and entrepreneur/designer.
Acting as retail merchandiser, I would coordinate, organize and synchronize the floor with a storytelling experience that would equally honor the homes to Uptown Sweats by Kiya Tomlin, Sandra Cadavid and Gina Mazzotta Millinery implement a place where the kids of these ceiling-breaking women entrepreneurs could feel welcome being kids in the space.
In spirit of fostering community relationships, as brand manager + marketing consultant, I served a duel role in the collaboration between neighbors Hotel Indigo® Pittsburgh East Liberty and Uptown Sweats by Kiya Tomlin for front desk uniforms.
My graphic design role included rendering layouts including color schematics, implementing, storyboarding, hand-building store signage and overseeing installations, designing and producing customized sales kit for market, a branding guide and expectations for the developing store front, brand styling guide for the Hotel Indigo® Pittsburgh East Liberty and supporting art and proofreading art by additional supporting designers.
Acting again as space planner upon relocating as Kiya Tomlin Work/Shop on Butler Street in Etna, Pa.
Since 2014 Kiya has been instrumental in breaking glass ceilings from Kiya Tomlin Uptown Sweats Signature Collection to Kiya Tomlin, NFL’s first Black Female License holder Kiya Tomlin x NFL and infamous The Coach T Collection.

freelance creative director
Pittsburgh, PA
Feb 2014 - Dec 2014 (10 months)
freelance creative director, graphic designer, editorial contributor + advertising sales
Acting as creative & art director I raised the quality of visual presentation—from production issues and overall readability reassessing the grid, stylesheets, ad placement and overall pagination—in Issue 1 to elevate issues 2-5, design layouts, produce the magazine for print, oversee the creative teams to meet fast-paced deadlines and production dates.
My strategic planning process included rendering layouts including color schematics, implementing additional desirable fonts, overseeing camera-ready styling, and storyboarding to embody the next quarters theme. Resulting in established expectations for news advertisements, word counts for writers and canvas dimension for contributing photographers/illustrators forecasting for things like final output binding disruptions.
As a contributing editor the process included idiation of editorial and writing as the home decor expert and contributing additional editorial by writing short stories to fill in editorial real estate for final production deadlines.
Also bridging the print edition to the growing social media/digital audiences. As a contributor of ad sales I identified & highlighted local marginalized businesses to assure their visibility on the platform of local cultural experiences for businesses like Shadow Lounge, 720 Music, Slide Worldwide, Strong II Dry Cleaners, Kelly Strayhorn Theater, Oh Yeah!, Touchstone Center for Arts, Hospital Albert Schweitzer, Choderwood, Diehard’s International, Revision Space Gallery, Point Breezeway, Yoga Roots on Location, Pastitio.
