This conference presentation, "Revision isn't Just for Writing: Assessing and Rethinking our Spaces," was given at the 2013 SWCA conference. My research has been helpful at my home institution for showing how a learning space can help students succeed. I wanted to help other institutions either explain to their higher administration why their spaces are worth the money they paid or why they should be given the budget to improve what they currently have.
My presentation encouraged participants to look beyond their writing centers' tutoring practices to see if their learning environments also had an effect on students' grades and college-wide retention rates. We discussed both qualitative and quantitative assessment measures and I shared some of my findings from Daytona State College.
