My name is Jenna Kranz, and I'm a Social Space Design Consultant. I went to school to study composition theory and writing center pedagogy, and found work as the Associate Director of a writing center. But, as it often goes, my journey has been circuitous. My work experience and participation in large-scale redesign projects has led me to a new realm of interest. I never thought that a simple "you're-better-with-picking-colors-than-I-am" statement from my boss would lead me down this path. Nonetheless, I'm incredibly thankful it has.

Designing active learning spaces is my passion. For the past three years, I've had the opportunity to explore what it means to build a collaborative and social learning environment and take projects from brainstorming to fruition. I've designed several learning spaces on the Daytona State Campus, from layout to technology to furniture, and have helped several other institutions to re-envision and create their own spaces. Various assessment measures, both qualitative and quantitative, have also been employed to help determine the usefulness of spaces. I've taken what I've learned to higher education conferences and always look for new opportunities.
