I am an innovative and creative individual, who pays close attention to detail and quality. I believe textiles, technique, and construction are imperative qualities to a high end garment. As a designer, I take into account the manufacturing process, efficiency is key. I am interested in domestic apparel manufacturing, and have an understanding of the production process and industrial machinery used to achieve a high quality and cost effective end result. My occupational and educational experience has allowed me to enter the apparel industry with dedication and excitement.

My educational experience at Wayne State University taught me not only to conduct myself in a professional manner but to strive for excellence. I have the highly skilled instructors to thank for not only teaching me the art of apparel drafting and draping but holding my work to a high standard. Craftsmanship and construction accuracy was upheld in the highest regard. My program included courses in weaving and textile printing and dyeing. These courses not only allowed my designs to be more creative and innovative, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the internal weave structures of a textile as well as the chemical process and composition which is involved with dyeing a textile. Wayne State University has enabled me to be a hardworking, detail orientated, and capable designer.

      Feb 2016 - Oct 2016 (8 months)
At Michigan Fashion Proto, I worked as a seamstress within a small scale manufacturing business. I worked with a variety of projects from sample making to garment runs of 200 or less. Our largest client was Moosejaw, and we manufactured garments for their "Made In Michigan" line. I learned a tremendous amount of knowledge from Michigan Fashion Proto because the projects were constantly changing. I gained proficiency in industrial machinery including, single needle, serger, cover stitch, button hole, and button sewer. I gained proficiency in ready to wear sewing techniques, as well an understanding for the balance between construction accuracy and speed. During my employment there was a high emphasis on individual project management, responsibility, and the importance of deadlines.

      Detroit, MI
      Mar 2014 - Jan 2015 (10 months)
At Detroit Denim, my main responsibility was repairs and alterations. I learned formal techniques associated with denim restoration which included California hems and darning. I had to be innovative at times when assessing the state of repair with each individual pair of jeans. No pair was the same. I gained a knowledge of the standards of premium denim and the quality and craftsmanship involved in the production of each pair of jeans. It was an honor to work for unique company focused on domestic apparel manufacturing.
