I am at the outset of a career in design, after returning to study after 4.5 years professional experience in the Victorian and Commonwealth public service. Changing career paths at 30 was a big decision, but I feel the right one, as I am now entering a field I am genuinely passionate about.
My design field is industrial design, specifically object/product design, with a focus on functional simplicity, where the function is simple and transparent, and the form clean and refined. I am as interested in the process of problem solving and product improvement as I am in the final product itself.
My design goals are focused on creating something that deserves to exist; products that have a purpose, however humble, beyond simply making money. This means that each object should be better than the existing options, either in function, efficiency or simply aesthetically.
Outside of design, I am passionate about the mountains - I am a qualified ski instructor (2006-2007), and also love mountain biking in the summer. My other interests are largely music and sports - both watching and playing.
