Bang & Olufsen Chainsaw

For this project the focus was on mass produced electric chainsaws. The brief for this project was to to design electric chainsaws whos designs speak the same language as a specific brand. As you can see the brand that i choose was Bang & Olufsen.

For my chainsaw redesign i chose a Stihl chainsaw that had an engine that runs parallel to the bar as opposed to the popular side mounted, perpendicular engine. I chose this type of chainsaw because it would make it easier to design a shape that spoke the B&O design language. My final design is very sleek and modern and defiantly looks like it was designed by B&O. The shapes are very simple and all the components are hidden. These are all hallmarks of the B&O brand. Some features of the chainsaw include the slide covers that cover the bolts and the oil inlet, the ergonomic handle that emphasises the design of the chainsaw and the transparent, poly carbonate guard that provides protection and extra visibility to the user.
