Joseph Straws

I am currently working at Sierra College for my internship as the CAD Manager. I have strong CAD skills using AutoCAD 2014-2018 with additional training to use programs including; SolidWorks 2015, Revit 2015-2018, and Fusion 360.

I am also currently enrolled at Sierra College in Rocklin CA working towards my AA degree by the end of 2018. I have received my Mechanical Drafting Specialist, Architectural Drafting Specialist and Drafting Essentials Certificates. These courses taught me many things most importantly how to apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to create working drawings according to ASME Y14 standards.

As a Lab Technician I work with other students helping them learn and understand how to operate the CAD software. With our labs 3d printers am able to produce interactive models with functioning parts and fasteners as a visual teaching aid.

As the CAD Manager I implement policies and procedures to maintain a well-organized environment. I have created inventories and order forms, maintenance records of the labs equipment and implementing procedures for students to have access to the equipment they require.

I enjoy being able to assist the department in planning activities that help promote our department in hopes to encourage student enrollment. These activities may include going to high schools or on campus events and fairs.
