Reconsidering Aesthetics For Emergency Call Devices
"Belle" is a fashionable emergency call concept accessory line for women. I chose to re-frame what it means to wear an assistive device such as a Life Alert pendant or wristband. Through ethnography, I learned that women are embarrassed to wear such devices because they make them feel old, and scream, “I need help.” In addition, fashionable senior women prefer to wear their own jewelry ensembles to compliment their clothing.
