The communal spaces within the condominium were designed to facilitate gathering throughout the space. The living, dining, and kitchen areas all flow into one another so users can feel integrated into the space while still allowing for each room to feel distinct. Many of the finishes reminisce of the simplicity of the early 1900’s schoolhouse and its rural Wisconsin setting.

The White Schoolhouse is a historic building located in Spring Green, WI with plans to renovate into two downstairs and one unpstairs condominium units. To cater to the variety of members in the community, the upstairs condominium was remodeled to be ADA complient giving users the opportunity to age in place. To create a timeless yet modern aesthetic within the schoolhouse a classic black and white color palette with brass accents has been implemented throughout. To form a fusion of the past and present original features including; floors, windows, and lighting, were made a part of the new design. The new configuration offers an open feel while still retaining private areas to create a more cozy ambiance. Overall, the goal of the space was to enhance the quality of living while also designing a classic space with hints of the buildings past use.
