Social Media Coordinator
Porirua, New Zealand
Dec 2014 - Present (9 years 5 months)
In my role I look after the different social media channels for the Council including; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and any more as they become relevant.
My day-to-day tasks include content sourcing and creation for the different social media channels, designing posters, images, infographics, pamphlets etc using the Adobe Suite for use both internally and externally across council. This includes photography, filming and video editing. On top of that I monitor all social media channels the council and different arms of council have. These include local community pages that may have a direct impact on council. I also respond to all customer service questions and queries that are received via social media.
I work with a number of different social media administrators across council. I give them advice on how they can best source and use their content to promote their different channels and boost engagement with the public. I also help make sure a level of consistency is being kept with all content produced.
I offer strategic and tactical advice to all business units wanting to use social media for their different needs. I advise how to develop campaigns that involve and optimise social media such as consultations, promotions or anything in between.
Design is fast becoming a very large part of my day-to-day job. With no graphic designer in house, I am often called upon to assist with different design elements. These include; image creation, photo corrections, page layout etc and I am also the back-up to our website content manager and help update different web pages as required using our CMS.
Working in local government means we have a responsibility to our residents and ratepayers at all times, and especially in times of need. I am part of the PIM (Public Information Management) team in our emergency management department and was a key cog in the wheel in communicating information to the public in the recent May floods in Porirua.

Sales Manager
Wellington, New Zealand
Mar 2007 - Dec 2014 (7 years 9 months)
My role involved helping lead a small team and making sure the day to day requirements of the business were attended to. This included looking after walk-in customers, stock management and looking after some of the larger trade and wholesale customer accounts including Fletcher Construction, Downer and Kiwi Rail.
Website maintenance was a big part of my role. I was one of two people who added products and information to the Trig Instruments website. Basic HTML coding was a part of this.
I was one of two people who helped establish and look after Trig's social media pages (Facebook & Twitter). I was also tasked with creating new and engaging content using Adobe Photoshop as well as coming up with new and exciting marketing ideas to help expand the Trig Instruments' brand.
I was the first point of contact for almost all our major domestic and international suppliers with whom I had a solid rapport. Some of these companies include DHL, Garmin and C.Scope International.
Relationship management was a big part of my role. Having the ability to work with current and new clients/suppliers was imperative so we could understand each other and determine the best product or service each other needs.
I was also involved in the wider company decision making process, including marketing strategies, purchasing decisions and changes to company policy.
