Relatively new to digital graphics, I bring to the table a wealth of knowledge about book illustration, with my own novella being published this Summer. Having owned, designed and operated a large Gothic bed & breakfast for sixteen years has given me a distinct sense of textures, lighting effects and textiles; and my New York years as printmaking instructor, exhibit coordinator and painting consultant have honed my craft. The past eighteen months have been spent in the pursuit of digital skills (Adobe Cloud), as well as oil painting on canvas.

  • Education
    • Courses: PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator Graphic Design
      Chicago Art Institute
      2014 - 2014
I am using Adobe Cloud with a Wacom tablet in my studio, while painting in a traditional, Old Master manner on canvas.
    • MFA Lithography Fine Art Printmaking
      University of Massachusetts
      1981 - 1983
Following graduate school I lived in Manhattan for many years, teaching and pulling my own prints at the oldest atelier in Chelsea, Bob Blackburn's Printmaking Workshop. Eventually I acquired hand typesetting skills, bought a Vandercook proofing press with metal type, and was involved with book arts, also learning gilding techniques. Thereafter, I had a studio in The Fine Arts Building in Chicago, near the Art Institute on Lake Michigan. Today I am resuming printmaking teaching at my Elston Grove Atelier, exhibiting, and honing my digital skills.
  • Experience
    • Art Instructor
      Southern Shore Gallery
      Michigan City, IN
      Apr 2015 - Jun 2015 (2 months)
In the new Uptown Arts District, on the lakefront - across from the planned ARTSPACE lofts, I will teach two classes:
VERDACCIO oil painting, with glazing; also LINOLEUM BLOCK printmaking techniques.
    • Master Lithographer, Artist Consultant, Contract Editioner
      Bob Blackburn's Printmaking Workshop
      Jun 1983 - Aug 1990 (7 years 2 months)
As a Master Printer, I pulled small editions of well known artists' work, also assisting painters who needed instruction in the creation of multiple images (rather than simply a unique work). I was also teaching aluminum and Bavarian stone lithography, while working in reduction work myself, employing process colors.
  • Awards

I was awarded a Revson Grant in 1984, through the Art Students League, for the production of an artist book entitled, "The Tres Riches Heures" (honoring the medieval Limbourgh Brothers work), which allowed me to work unencumbered for a year.
