Lo Kwan Yean

I am a 3D event designer with a Degree in Multimedia Design. I have over 15 years of working experience in event and design. I worked as a Senior 3D Designer at Skinny Fat Kids for almost 6 years, where my main role was providing to scale 3D visuals. My job role also includes providing final artwork for and dealing with vendors on production details. As a 3D designer, I occasionally also partake into 2D graphic design as per customer's and company's request. When on site, I play a support role for the event and to oversee the setup process.

The design software that I am most familiar with are 3ds Max, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Recently I am also learning some basic animation and video editing with Adobe After Effect through online tutorials.

My event life started back in the year 2000 as an event crew for a millennium Y2K countdown party. Subsequently, I have participated in numerous freelance jobs as setup crew, event crew, supervisor and ambassador for almost 6 years while I was still studying multimedia design in university. During this period, I had the chance to travel around to almost every state in Malaysia for different events and roadshows. It was truly an amazing experience and that is where my journey in the event industry began.

Throughout the years, I have worked in a small start up company with as little as 2 employees to a multinational company with more than 100 employees. From event specialized agency, to exhibition company and also retail interior design. I have also spent 2 to 3 years working in Singapore. This is when I was given the opportunity by the company to travel to Shanghai for a month where I was assigned for site support and design for two events that were organized there. Travelling within Malaysia and Singapore have been part of my job routine back then.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, eating my way around and sharing experiences on social media. Travel helps to open up your eyes, broaden the mind and inspire me to have more creative ideas. As the saying goes "It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books". If my job would require me to travel around would definitely be a plus point!
