Christopher Flechtner Design and Consulting is a small collaborative design studio founded by husband and wife Christopher Flechtner and Junko Uchiyama.
With over 25 years in the world of design, Christopher Flechtner D&C can untangle complex problems and deliver a product or design that has true soul. With a deep understanding of materials & manufacturing processes balanced with a passion for design, Christopher Flechtner D&C forges a harmony between the two.
Christopher Flechtner D&C has the privilege of working on many scales from bespoke hand fabrication by local artisans in the US, Europe or Japan all the way to mass manufacturing in the US and Asia.

MFA Furniture DesignCranbrook Academy of Art1994 - 1996Obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree, focusing studies on furniture design and development. Concurrently, founded a bicycle design company, specializing in unique bicycle frames. Completed thesis on the development of full suspension bicycles, which explored the process of exceptional design and fabrication.

BFA Metalsmithing and Jewelry DesignMassachusetts College of Art and Design1989 - 1993Obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in metalsmithing and jewelry design. Focused on the development and production of specialized steels and non-ferrous alloys. Explored the rituals and ergonomics of hand-held tools and objects of adornment.
