Sketches and concept development towards a logo for a company offering customizable lithium ion battery systems. — Ideation & Development - Round 1 At a basic level, lithium ion battery systems function thanks to the travel performed by one of three electrons within a Lithium atom. A Lithium atom starts with a nucleus, two electrons in the same orbit around it, and a third in a slightly larger orbit. Energy can be harnessed from the act of this third electron's departure of the system, resulting in a Lithium ion. This system, illustrated in basic terms as a nucleus, two orbiting electrons, and a third electron departing the system, provided key inspiration when developing initial sketchwork for the Lithos Energy logo.

Six concepts were eventually taken and refined to conclude Round 1. I provided both logotypes (logo+symbol) and symbols alone, to allow for better evaluation of the symbols' strength on their own.
Ideation & Development - Round 2 Once the client had chosen the fifth of the six provided concepts for further study, I provided a few variants on the design. In the end, the design was kept largely unaltered, with the exception of tightening up the outer "L" shape, foregoing the idea of the third ion departing the system.
ABOVE LEFT: Two variants of the chosen design for evaluation. ABOVE RIGHT: The logo picked for finalization, and various material tests. — Color Scheme Variants Equally important was to select a color scheme for the company in general. Various ideas were pursued, but the initial blue and tan color scheme was eventually kept for the final product.
