Managed a group of 8 individuals in the prepress and ad design areas. Responsible for the daily magazine & ad production of over 40 publications as well as books. These books / magazines are funneling from multiple offices around the US to Iola, WI for prepress before routing to external companies for printing. Involves coordinating with sales and editorial internally for ad creation & magazine assembly to deliver finished content under tight deadlines. In addition, the position requires the scheduling of all of the magazine print production for the company.
Able to help produce & design content both print and digital for the company while keeping costs under tight control with the ultimate goal of driving revenue. Helped in absorbing two acquired companies (Interweave & New Track) into F+W in terms of the scheduling and production work fl ow for magazines to the prepress and ad design departments in Iola, WI.

Managed ebook assets in regards to the creation, scheduling and distribution of epub files to vendors like Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Google. In addition, I also work with magazine print Production in the scheduling of all of the magazine titles for F+W.
Helped organize and streamline the Digital Asset area by developing a scheduling system to keep track of print products that needed to be converted to a digital asset and then distributed to a variety of vendors. Assisted in identifying and distributing digital Assets for a back list of book products for F+W that helped make over 3,000 titles available to consumers which in turn achieved additional revenue for the company.

Managed a group of 10 in the Print Services & Digital Imaging groups. Responsibilities included: Scheduling all magazine work through the Production Department and coordinating with outside printers on the delivery of files for printing for over 40 magazines. Involved the set up of how magazines would print with the printers which included inserts into the magazine, the forms they would print and various other aspects.
Also managed the coding & billing accuracy of invoices coming from the outside printers. Managed the bar code creation & on-sale dates for all magazines. Also, worked with the USPS in making sure all relevant publications qualified for Periodical postage mailing rates as well as coordinated with outside printers with regards to which publications qualified for their co-mail program. Managed the Digital Imaging group in the processing of images for use in books & magazines.

Managed a staff of 20 in the Production Department on 2nd shift in various departments - including: Ad Design, Scanning, 4-color Electronic Assembly and Proofreading with the overall goal of producing finished files for magazines & books to send to outside printers. Assumed the overall responsibility for the operation of the plant on 2nd shift. Position also included managing /supervising other departments beyond Production including the Art Department, Books, Editorial & House keeping during 2nd shift hours.

Output 4-color magazine fi les from Art Department design programs to film/negative output before sending to outside printers. Created masks for covers of magazines using Scitex Star equipment. Also output proofs from 4-color proofers which were sent to printers to match color on press.

Designed ads for many hobby & enthusiast magazines & newspaper tabloid publications. Assisted the scanning department in scanning physical images to digital files and using Photoshop to make adjustments
